Utah Trip

My mom took me to Utah with her this past week to visit my Grandma who I haven't seen in 4 years.  We were also going because both of my brothers were graduating from UVU on Friday.  It was a surprise for everyone that I was coming.  We met my aunt and Grandma for lunch right after we got off the plane and my grandma was so surprised and very excited.  We were planning on 3 days of just shopping and going out to eat.  Always fun for me!!  The next day after shopping all morning, we went to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point.  We were all worried about walking 55 acres, especially since my grandma's foot was in so much pain she could barely walk so we rented a golf cart and it was the best decision we made all day.  It was perfect and were able to see everything without dying of exhaustion.  I was made the designated driver and it was actually fun to drive it for the first time!

Friday morning, bright and early at 8am, we went to Travis' graduation.  We never thought it would happen but he did it!  

Later that afternoon was Brenan's.  We were able to get some great pictures in front of my grandma's house with the beautiful mountains in the background. It's fun they got to graduate the same day although 2 separate times was a bit long!

For dinner we went to La Jolla Groves and it was AMAZING.  Seriously the best meal I've had in a really long time.  It was a great place and they had a private room so that was perfect for the 17 people we had there.  It really was so fun!

 

I was beyond happy to see Sara at the graduation dinner since I hadn't seen her in years.  She is amazing as usual!! So glad we got to hang out for a little while!

Marathon

Phillip started running again last year and did a 8K on Thanksgiving and has been training for months for his half marathon he did last week.  It was a trail marathon so it was pretty tough on him and he ended up tripping, falling and getting a pretty nasty gash on his arm.  I have no idea how this is his idea of fun but he loves it!!  He is doing another half in June that he is still training for too.

Jared and him ran it together and both ended up bloodied and bruised!

Easter Festivities

Easter was pretty late this year so the kids kept asking when we were going to do an egg hunt, baskets, etc...  They were excited to finally do it.  We just did a little hunt in the backyard but they loved it.  We are going to have to start hiding them a little harder though because they are finding them quicker than ever.  Even Haven loved it.  She didn't quite get the concept of putting the eggs in the basket at first but she eventually got it.  She mainly just wanted to shake the eggs though!

We did eggs outside to limit the mess and the kids always love it.  Even though they end up doing the same thing to most of them, they still have fun and are still always amazed how pretty they turn out. 

Finally Easter basket time!  The Easter Bunny hides the baskets and Haven found hers first.  It was the easiest and on the floor so she was super excited.  She literally couldn't wait to start pulling stuff out.

Addison was beyond excited about her Frozen dolls.  She has been begging for them and they are sold out EVERYWHERE.  I had to order them straight from China and they took 6 weeks but here they are

One of my favorite things about Easter is the kids' new Easter outfits.  The kids are BEYOND cute!!

I got both girls' dresses at the consignment sale and they were pretty similar to each other.  I love matching them!!

Bowling

We went bowling a few weeks ago and the kids had so much fun.  Addison had a hard time managing with her cast since she couldn't use that arm to help lift the ball but she did great anyway.  It was the first time she bowled without using the kid guide to roll your ball down.  She was excited about that.  Cooper on the other hand used it and got strike after strike after strike.  It was crazy.  He was beyond excited!  I even got above 100 for both games which is awesome for me.  That almost never happens :)

Haven was kind of a pain because she's at that stage where she's not quite walking yet but she doesn't want to be held or in her stroller at all.  Crawling around the floor at the bowling alley isn't exactly my idea of a good time.  Not only is it filthy but can be pretty dangerous.  We ended up just passing her back and forth to each other to walk her around when it wasn't our turn. She did like to look at the balls coming out though. That is until she got her finger smashed.  Whoops!

First Steps!

While we were at Shawna's house last week, Haven was trying to get a toy from Hyrum and she randomly took 6 steps toward him to get it.  I was in shock!  She had never taken steps before or was even close to it so I was beyond excited, especially that I had seen it.  She didn't take any more steps for a few more days until Sunday after church.  We practiced it a few times and she did it over and over again.  I love it! Hopefully she will be fully walking soon.  It will definitely make my life a little easier not having to carry her everywhere!  She is so stinking adorable!

Pretty School Pictures

We got Addison's spring pictures back yesterday.  They came out SO cute!  She is such a big girl. I was bummed she was still going to have her cast on for the pictures but it ended up being fine.  She was adamant about picking a pink shirt out so that it would match.  Haha!

Zip Line Tour

To cap off an insanely busy week between going to Myrtle Beach and camping, Phillip and I went zip-lining yesterday.  For his birthday last year, I had given him a Groupon to do this but we didn't have time to go last year so we were going to wait until it was warmer to go.  I realized about 3 weeks ago that it expired today so we had to hurry up and use it.  It was perfect weather so it worked out nicely.  I specifically picked this place because it was only 45 minutes away as opposed to going to the mountains which are a 4 hour drive.  Luckily my mom was able to take the kids so it was perfect.  The place is SO nice.  I was shocked that all of this forest area was smack dab in the middle of Fayettville.

We were in a group with 5 other people.  Luckily everyone was super nice and fun to do this with.

Loved doing this run.  It was 800 feet over a waterfall.  It was SO beautiful!

There were 3 bridges and to be honest they were the only thing I was really afraid of. They were so wobbly and Phillip kept shaking it on purpose just to tease me.  They were just so skinny with only tiny little ropes on the side.  Not sturdy!!  Obviously we were still harnessed in but it was still a little scary.

It was really, really fun and something I definitely recommend doing if you get the chance.  We had such a great time and it was nice taking a few hours away from the kids!
